It's Been a Busy Two Years

In the tradition of end-of-the-year retrospectives, I remind myself of some of the work I have done on my house over the last two years.
my house as it looked when I bought it - so very turquoise!

new windows, new door, new paint - a work in progress

the dining room as it looked the day I took possession of the house

the dining room in progress - what once was window is now door

living room on inspection day - luckily the furniture didn't come with the house

living room on closing day - I ripped out the soiled carpet from the entire house before moving in

hall on inspection day - complete with trail o' grime (ick!)

bedroom on inspection day - I thought the flesh tone walls were very creepy

So much left to do!  Landscaping, kitchen remodel, bathroom renovation, molding, paint, new furniture... I have big plans for 2012 (and beyond).

Happy New Year! :-)

  2. What an amazing transition. It looks great! I love the wallpaper on a single wall in the living room. It's beautiful and really opens up the room.

  7. impressive how much clean walls and hardwood floor can make a difference, but the b&w details and jewel tones make it pretty freakin amazing!

  11. I adore your home! It's inspiring me to actually do some work on my own...I've been in there for 3 and a half years and done almost NOTHING. I hate the paint on the walls, I need new windows, my husband wants to finish the basement...and what has happened is minimal. I think I'm still in a rental mindset...and a lazy/poor mindset...and a busy-during-useful-months midset...must change it to something I adore!

    1. Thank you! Painting the walls is a good kickstarter project that is inexpensive and can be done in a weekend. A change in paint color can make a huge difference and encourage you to do more projects.
